Rob Sayer
Lighting Designer, Programmer, Lighting Blogger,
I split my time between different areas of freelance work. When not on the road a Lighting Designer for concerts, corporate shows and other live events, I promote websites and provide services as an online marketing consultant.
I have been in stage lighting since an early age. After getting the techie bug and getting serious about lighting in youth theatre, I worked regularly as theatre casual before starting formal training at the internationally acclaimed Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. While studying stage management and techinical production, I continued to work in a theatre environment.
After graduating from BOVTS, I accidentally fell into the world of Corporate and Event Lighting working on all kinds of commercial shows both large and small. As a LX engineer and Production Rigger, I enjoy the challenges, travel and constantly meeting new people in the world of a freelance lampie.
I have designed and operated lighting for theatre performances, music festivals and large corporate events for blue chip companies while travelling all over Europe. I am also passionate about the education of the next generation of lighting engineers and started the On Stage Lighting Blog as an alternative to using my professional experience to write a book on stage lighting.
